For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable basses into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few too many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con, the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers… permanently. There’s only one problem: even the best-laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.

Jon Baker (Dax Shepard) and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Michael Peña) have joined the California Highway Patrol for very different reason. Baker, the rookie, is a beaten-up pro motorbiker trying to save his marriage. Ponch, a tough cop with a weakness for women in yoga pants, is an undercover FBI agent investigating heists that may be inside jobs. With Jon’s bike skills joined with Ponch’s street savvy, this mismatched pair might just work… if they don’t drive each other crazy first.

Set in the midst of the 2009 US housing crisis, this darkly comedic story follows Sonny (Danny McBride – Pineapple Express, This Is The End), a disgruntled homeowner, and Cassie Fowler (Rosemarie DeWitt – Black Mirror, Poltergeist), a single mom and struggling realtor whose life goes off the rails when she witnesses a murder.

When the unstable Sonny turns up at Cassie’s office, things quickly spiral out of control. Despite Sonny’s assertion that he’s “a really good person,” he knocks Cassie out’ kidnaps her, and drags her along on his impulsive spree of violence.
