Turandot at the Forbidden City of Beijing In 1998, eight open air performances of “Turandot” were held in the courtyard of the palace of the Forbidden City, Beijing. It was staged and adapted to the grandiose palace setting with nearly 1500 costumes newly made to be as true to the Ming Dynasty as possible.
