Synopsis

The Hong Sisters, famed romantic-comedy screenwriters, flirt with horror in this unique take on opposites. Joo Joong Won (So Ji-sub) is a rapacious CEO who is only concerned about money. His secretary, Tae Gong Sil (Kong Hyo-jin) is a dark and reticent insomniac who is burdened with the ability to see ghosts. Joong Won and Gong Sil are an unlikely duo in every regard, but they share one thing in common: they are both intensely crippled personalities that need a lot of help. Can the money hungry Joong Won recognize priorities beyond the dollar sign, and can the lonely Gong Sil ever live a life without fear? Geum Jan-di (Koo Hye-sun) is from a poor family and is admitted to the prestigious Shinhwa High School after stopping a student who was being bullied from committing suicide. Shinhwa High was established by Shinhwa Group, the biggest conglomerate in Korea, and is attended by the scions of the wealthiest families. At Shinhwa, she finds that a group of rich and good-looking boys called “F4” (“Flower 4”) who enjoys tremendous popularity. The F4, however, thinks nothing of humiliating others, and often issues a “red card”. Whoever finds the dreaded red card in his or her locker subsequently becomes the target of bullying by the entire student body. Jan-di detests all this circus, but receives a red card herself and is bullied, after she stands up for one of her fellow classmates. Eventually, she begins to have feelings for one of the F4, Ji-hoo (Kim Hyun-jung), but also discovers that the leader of the group, Jun-pyo (Lee Min-ho) is falling for her too……

Prism Breaker depicts the collaboration between three major law enforcement agencies, namely, the Hong Kong Police Force, ICAC and Department of Justice. Although they are on different missions, but they risk their lives to deal with the evil force with the same righteousness. While investigating crime syndicate boss Tai Cho-fuk (Dominic Lam), SIP Chow Chun-kit (Bosco Wong) experiences the loss of loved ones and betrayal by colleagues. While looking into a case involving some snitch, ICAC Senior Investigator Ko Ho-yin (Kenneth Ma) faces the dilemma of turning against his family or disregarding justice. And DoJ DDPP Lau Yu-fan (Moses Chan) keeps seeking a balance between legal principles and human feelings. While playing the power game that is shrouded in mystery, these law enforcers unravel the conundrum and eventually bring the criminals to justice. The drama utilizes a tense and exciting narrative rhythm to describe the complexity of human nature and the brutality of struggle with emphasis on the lasting value of fairness and justice while reflecting on the dichotomy between human nature and power in the process of law enforcement.
